The participatory networking event of the ENND platform to create an exchange of good practices of what can be done to prevent segregated education.

Goals of the workshop:

1) exchange of tangible and reproducible strategies that proved to be working in the prevention of segregated education, especially between first-line practitioners

2) create cross-boundary exchange of good practices

3) get participants involved in the forming of the ENND platform

The participants were of various backgrounds – from teachers, researchers to social or community workers. But mostly all of them were practitioners/activists in prevention of segregated Roma education. In the beginning, Tibor Derdák summarised what are the causes and effects of such segregation. Then, participants could learn about good practices during workshop sessions. Indeed, various inspiring activities were presented and they can certainly be implemented at many other places throughout Central and Eastern European countries. Their description is available in the full report.

In the next session of the meeting participants summarised their views on segregated education and on its effects on society, what they can learn from the failures in their efforts and most importantly how to influence decision makers.

Participants also discussed what would help them in their work, how the ENND can be supportive and what are the ways the ENND could be advanced.
